Hey everyone. I got some time to do the latest update to the board software, but it meant that all the old modifications and styles wouldn't work anymore. So, here you have the newest iteration of LabourTalk. Please let me know by Private Message if you run into any issues with the new styling. Some new features on the board are:

  • Latest HTML5 Responsive Styling - You can now see a new, more modern styling on the board. Along with this, you can resize the browser to see the board change with it. The board is now functional on all sizes of screens, including your cell phone, table and desktop/laptop.
  • Post Sharing - Although you could previously, the new layout means the sharing icons are more visible on the lower right hand corner of each post. Click your favourite social media outlet to share the desired post with them.
  • Multiple Themes - Previously there was only one theme in an attempt to lower the workload when modifications were put in place. Fortunately, the new modification system is much simpler to implement and we now have multiple colour options for you to enjoy. You can change these from your User Control Panel under the Board Settings heading.
  • Announcements - Announcements can now be posted here (where you're seeing this one) and, in most cases, can be dismissed. To dismiss them, please click the "X" in the top right corner of this box.
  • Collapsing Categories - Categories, such as News & Announcements or Welcome (below), can be collapsed to clear up some of the clutter. This state should be maintained as long as you're logged in.

We hope you like the changes!

Tell Us WHY!

Postby wimpole1 » Wed Nov 18, 2009 4:37 pm

Why does George Doubt, Tamara Marshall (acting sec-tres since Sheryl Anderson has been off a very long time),John Carpenter vp and Betty Carasco vp not want to hire professional negotiators for this round of bargaining? Do they think they can actually sit across the table from Telus's band of attorneys and make good deals for the members? Have they made deals already that we don't know about? If anyone out there can make sense of this decision please come forward. There is a whole bunch of money to be made when one is on the bargaining committee. Maybe that is why these guys are so opposed to hiring someone.

How about the rumour (there is always a grain of truth you know) that since Bobby Schneider, ba for Alberta, has been off a while, her position is not necessary. Therefore let's get rid of that one and make a new one in B.C. (Where, by the way, more jobs are being off shored by the minute) Plus let's make a new vp position in the east (Toronto (?)
Rumour has it......Let's spend until there is nothing left of the twu. Makes the previous administration look like saints!!!

The twu has enough money to e-mail ( at their work as well as at home) and snail-mail and voice-mail everyone in the Vancouver, Lowermainland, B.C. area. How is it that they can afford this kind of mass advertising but can't even give us the financials for the past year? We all have the right to know. What's the big secrect?? Where are our union dues going? What legal battles? What merger talks? What hotel, motel, travel, new tech. (slush fund stuff) are our dues going to? They don't want us to have a professional negotiator for the upcoming contract talks but they can hire a professional speaker for the road tour for the "keep jobs in Canada campaign"
doesn't something stink here? Come on. This forum wants the truth and would really appreciate some honesty. Don't be silent...

It is very easy to destroy a culture, very hard to re-construct.
Ask the twu - ask- telus.

well I am curious to know if the Steelworkers willbe at the table with them.

Perhaps their position is for the TWU exec to kickoff the negotiations and then demonstrate to their members that Telus is being unreasonable (again) and that big guns need to be brought in to deal with the situation and "voila!" here come the Steelworkers. they certainly are violent enough to make the old BCTel workers happy.

On the other hand the network is more automated than ever..... It is only hte poor slobs on BC's line plant that are going to do most of the suffering.

TWwho?
