Hey everyone. I got some time to do the latest update to the board software, but it meant that all the old modifications and styles wouldn't work anymore. So, here you have the newest iteration of LabourTalk. Please let me know by Private Message if you run into any issues with the new styling. Some new features on the board are:

  • Latest HTML5 Responsive Styling - You can now see a new, more modern styling on the board. Along with this, you can resize the browser to see the board change with it. The board is now functional on all sizes of screens, including your cell phone, table and desktop/laptop.
  • Post Sharing - Although you could previously, the new layout means the sharing icons are more visible on the lower right hand corner of each post. Click your favourite social media outlet to share the desired post with them.
  • Multiple Themes - Previously there was only one theme in an attempt to lower the workload when modifications were put in place. Fortunately, the new modification system is much simpler to implement and we now have multiple colour options for you to enjoy. You can change these from your User Control Panel under the Board Settings heading.
  • Announcements - Announcements can now be posted here (where you're seeing this one) and, in most cases, can be dismissed. To dismiss them, please click the "X" in the top right corner of this box.
  • Collapsing Categories - Categories, such as News & Announcements or Welcome (below), can be collapsed to clear up some of the clutter. This state should be maintained as long as you're logged in.

We hope you like the changes!

It's silly season again!

Convention coming up. Just looked at the TWU-STT website. Has anyone looked at the pictures of our exec.? Maybe it's an optical illusion, but, it sure looks like they have been up to their trotters at the trough. How come the only people at the rallies are the exec?
It should be a short convention...Nothing getting done. Oh yes...elections..Someone there must be retiring...You'll be kept informed. If you hear anything let us know.

Convention is from May30th - April 4th 2012. Staying at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, 7551 Westminster Highway,Richmond, B.C.

TWU has 15 Business Agents and Pres. George Doubt,VP's John Carpenter and Betty Carrasco with Michael Thompson Secretary/Tresurer.
That makes 19 reps. All highly paid but the highest paid are from the Sec/Treas up to the Pres. Let's publish their salaries....

Now since the total number of twu members is approx. 10970 members (not counting the retirees) that makes that all these fat cats are saying they are representing about 677 members each. One local has 10 members! What a joke!! And let's talk about how much these guys are pulling in off the backs of the workers!!

The fun is just begining.

There was a resolution, last year, to recall VP John Carpenter but it was withdrawn....why?

So folks in the West have said that, even today after a long period of time, they can't access their pension office. The recording says that they are in the midst of a labour dispute. If you should like to hear the message you can call 1-604-430-1317. Remember the "company" in this instance is the TWU. How do they square this?

COPE 378 members from the Telecommunications Workers Pension Plan (TWPP) office are on strike.

They have set up a picket line as of yesterday, February 15, 2012.

Negotiations are ongoing and have been for some time. However, COPE 378 has decided to continue with the strike action.

The TWPP is currently waiting for a response regarding the last offer made to COPE 378, but have yet to be invited back to the bargaining table.

The TWPP is making every effort to ensure that timely payments of members’ pensions and benefits are made.

This dispute will not have any effect on the TWU offices or operations

I guess the twu is waiting for the COPE members, that adminster the B.C. pension fund, to starve out..... Is this going to be an important matter at this months convention?

I guess nothing was important as this forum hasn't seen a post in 4 months. Has the pension office settled its dispute with the TWU? What happened at convention? Has everyone just lost interest or what?
