Hey everyone. I got some time to do the latest update to the board software, but it meant that all the old modifications and styles wouldn't work anymore. So, here you have the newest iteration of LabourTalk. Please let me know by Private Message if you run into any issues with the new styling. Some new features on the board are:

  • Latest HTML5 Responsive Styling - You can now see a new, more modern styling on the board. Along with this, you can resize the browser to see the board change with it. The board is now functional on all sizes of screens, including your cell phone, table and desktop/laptop.
  • Post Sharing - Although you could previously, the new layout means the sharing icons are more visible on the lower right hand corner of each post. Click your favourite social media outlet to share the desired post with them.
  • Multiple Themes - Previously there was only one theme in an attempt to lower the workload when modifications were put in place. Fortunately, the new modification system is much simpler to implement and we now have multiple colour options for you to enjoy. You can change these from your User Control Panel under the Board Settings heading.
  • Announcements - Announcements can now be posted here (where you're seeing this one) and, in most cases, can be dismissed. To dismiss them, please click the "X" in the top right corner of this box.
  • Collapsing Categories - Categories, such as News & Announcements or Welcome (below), can be collapsed to clear up some of the clutter. This state should be maintained as long as you're logged in.

We hope you like the changes!

Who will step up to put their NAME on the petition?????

Postby mowerpower » Sat Sep 03, 2005 10:30 am

Okay now my husband can start a petition at the TPS he however is a new employee and even thought Telus says he is a BU I don't think his signature will count because he refused to sign the card. I have a few questions though before he can do this.
Will he lose his job if he does this, we both know not to use company time or resources.
Does anyone know the answer to this.
He is still BU... he still had Dues taken off his check... all the card says is that you want to be able to participate in the process... it gives you access to vote and access to the meetings... thats it... unless he signed over his dues, he is BU...

do we have someone who is willing to put their name on it? That is absolutely the first step ... I cannot do it, once this is over, I will be moving to an acting management position... There is not sense getting all those signatures, then having it rejected for that reason...

He doesn't pay dues they want on strike shortly after he was hired. I have a feeling they will get those from him when this is over.

I am also in the same boat.. I'm BU but in an acting management role.. i'll gladly help distribute it and sign it, but i think if my name headed it that may give them a loophole

I don't think you can even look, touch or smell it pheonix. Your normally not management just because of the strike, you had to take on the roll?

In many departments, there is a position called Acting management... as a temporary measure you are put into a management role. During the strike, all Acting managers had to step down from their positions and move back into a BU positions

as MP said.. my position was a temporary one that fell under the management category.. during that time you are classed as managemnt , however you are still a dues paying card carrying BU member.. becasure when your term is over you revert to your original position .. or possibly get made permanent.
