Long story short, the US websites are in great number and a long slog. Fun things hid within though.
The Unions (Big "U") in the states have thrown support behind the "Employee Free Choice Act" which is rather perversely named because it supports card certification as "free choice", but that's another thread somewhere.
The funny one is the new Union site "American Rights at Work" that of course supports this oppressive bit of legislation has made the bold statement that "every 23 minutes, a worker is fired or discriminated against for their support of a union"..
Now, for me the humour comes in when some enterprising individual decided to check this number, which is derived from an NLRB report that says in 2005 - 31,358 employees were "fired or discriminated against for supporting a union." Well, it turns out this Union group decided that if anyone was given back pay 2005, they must have been fired for union activity.
Read this webpage... you have to wonder how long unions are going to survive if they're so stupid as to be able to have a major chunk of their fight blown apart with one bit of writing?
We hope you like the changes!
